Hiroshima is a city of contrasts, where its past history meets vibrant modern life, and moments of peaceful reflection can be found round the corner from bustling streets full of culture and cuisine. Experiencing it all starts with choosing the right base, and the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima offers just that, as a modern, stylish hotel that offers an ideal blend of location, comfort, and stunning views at reasonable rates. In this article we take you through what you can expect when staying at the hotel.

Upon arrival at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima, you step into a lobby that is sleek, modern, and welcoming. The check-in process is smooth, as many staff speak English, providing a hassle-free experience for international guests. Within a few minutes, you’ll be on your way to your room ready to start your Hiroshima adventure right away.
- TIP 1: Opt for a smoother digital check-in (advance QR check-in) if you want to further save time when checking in.
- TIP 2: Use the luggage storage services if you’re arriving before check-in time for added convenience, allowing you to explore Hiroshima baggage-free.
Room & Bathroom: Comfort Meets Modernity
The rooms at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima offer functionality with a gentle touch of elegance. One of the reasons we chose the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima was its beautifully designed rooms, featuring stylish artwork and a thoughtfully arranged desk area.

The layout made great use of space, offering everything you might need within easy reach. We particularly appreciated the multi-device charger provided—perfect for powering up a phone, smartwatch, and backup battery all at once in preparation for the next day of sightseeing.

Guests can expect comfortable beds, good quality linens, and space to store luggage plus free wifi. A key highlight is the window view, and being a high-rise building, many rooms offer excellent city views, providing a glimpse of Hiroshima’s skyline and surrounding landscape.

Moving on to the bathroom – it was clean and functional but pretty standard in design and looked much like a business hotel. However this wasn’t an issue for us and was more than offset by the stunning view from the room on the 23rd floor where you could see Hiroshima Bay in the distance. This was a perfect sight to unwind to in the evening, as the city lights shimmered across the skyline.

Breakfast & Lounge Service: Great with Superb Panoramic Views
The Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima serves breakfast on a bright, comfortable dining area on the 25th floor, and offers both Japanese and Western selections with a variety of options including local speciality Hiroshima-style dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. You can also enjoy the superb view of the city and beyond while having your breakfast.

One standout feature of the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima is a complimentary lounge service exclusive to hotel guests where you can have coffee and soft drinks as well as light snacks and desserts depending on the time of day. Alcoholic beverages are also available at Happy Hour but note these are chargeable. Located on the 25th floor, the lounge is an inviting space to relax or plan out your day while enjoying the panoramic view.

Location & Access: Unbeatable Convenience
Situated in central Hiroshima, the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima provides easy access to key attractions such as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Atomic Bomb Dome, and Hiroshima Castle — all within walking distance. The neighbourhood immediately surrounding the hotel is quiet at night with a convenience store close by. Just a few minutes away are restaurants and shopping streets including the Hondori Shopping Arcade.

For travel further afield, we would recommend to take a tram, as the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima, is located near a streetcar (tram) stop. The tram system is an efficient and charming way to navigate the city, providing direct access to Hiroshima Station (for Shinkansen bullet trains) and the ferry port for the famous Miyajima Island. This exceptional connectivity makes the Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima an incredibly convenient base for exploring everything the region has to offer.
Pros & Cons: Balanced View

Pros:
- Unbeatable Location: Central and within walking distance of main attractions and transport links.
- Stunning Views: Panoramic views from higher-floor rooms and the top-floor lounge/restaurant.
- Modern Comfort: Clean, well-designed rooms with comfortable beds and modern amenities.
- Professional Service: Efficient, polite, and helpful staff with many of them speaking English.
- Good Value: Offers a great experience without an exorbitant price tag.
Cons:
- Room Size: Standard rooms may feel compact for travelers with large luggage although it’s common in Japan.
- Distance from Station: Not directly next to Hiroshima Station, so if you have luggage, a short tram or taxi ride is required.
- Breakfast: Morning buffet may get busy during peak tourist seasons.
- Limited On-Site Dining (beyond breakfast): Diverse dining options are available in the abundant surrounding area.
Overall, the advantages strongly outweigh the drawbacks, especially for travelers seeking a comfortable base to explore Hiroshima without compromising on convenience or quality.
